
This week, it’s a tale of two marketing campaigns. Sundance horror Hereditary and diamond heist caper Ocean’s 8 took very different approaches to selling their very different films. In the former case, the trailers concealed many of the biggest surprises to great effect, while Ocean’s 8 decided to spoil one of its major revelations at the earliest possible opportunity.
In this video, I take a look at the two different marketing campaigns and discuss my frustration at the things Ocean’s 8 got so wrong in its series of trailers.
